Pianist Wu Muye will give a piano recital for one night only at the Shanghai Grand Theater later this month.

Wu’s world tour began last year, and celebrates the 190th anniversary of the death of Austrian composer Franz Schubert. In the Shanghai stop, Wu will perform Schubert’s Impromptus.

His recent performances in Beijing and Nanjing have been widely praised. Following the Shanghai stop, he will move on to perform in Hangzhou, and thereafter to Paris.

Born into a Beijing family of musicians, Wu graduated from the music school of the Paris Conservatory in 2009.

He has performed at many important events and diplomatic occasions such as the G20 Summit, Shanghai World Expo and a gala to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France.

In 2017 he stunned his audience with a recital which combined elements of Chinese and Western musical styles at the Palace Museum in Beijing.

The 34-year-old pianist said that he is preparing a new repertoire for future recitals, and he wants to host a New Year’s concert every year in the cities he loves around the world.
