The 10th New Star Art Award, an important platform for supporting young Chinese contemporary artists, was held earlier this week in Nanjing, capital of neighboring Jiangsu Province. The grand prix went to artist Hu Yinping.

Among added content for this year was the Chinese Contemporary Youth Art Top Traffic List 2019, which tracked WeChat postings of young Chinese artists.

The New Star Art International Artist Residency Project, an activity under the New Star Art Movement which was established in 2016, announced that it would expand to more overseas artist residency areas including the Netherlands, France and Italy in the future. Artworks created during the project will get a chance to be displayed at either overseas art museums or art commercial institutions.

Lu Peng, one of China’s top art critics and art director of the New Star Art Award, said the award "will continuously seek more talented young artists and, in cooperation with more channels in the future, will finally help them to appear on the forefront of the art community."
