Show celebrates best of children's artwork
The 5th International Children’s Creative Art Exhibition is currently underway at the Shanghai Art Collection Museum through August 22.
Hosted by the Shanghai Children’s Foundation and the Shanghai Education Development Foundation, the exhibition features paintings, calligraphy works, installations, videos and photographs created by children from around the world.
According to organizers, the showcased works were chosen from 500 candidates from nearly 20 countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, France and the Czech Republic.
This year's event features a novel coronavirus theme, and many of the works represent children's confidence in combating the virus.
One highlight is a Lego statue that resembles a makeshift hospital, complete with doctors and patients on hospital beds.
Another work references “Girl with a Pearl Earring” painted by Johannes Vermeer in 1655. This time, the well-known girl is wearing a surgical mask.
This year's exhibition will feature a charity auction, with all raised funds donated to the Shanghai Children’s Foundation and the Shanghai Education Development Foundation.
