Songjiang a highland for analysis-technology industry

Songjiang District has become a highland for the analysis technology industry, home to many analytical-instrument companies.

The 60-plus analysis technology companies fall into categories such as high-end analytical instruments, third-party inspection and testing, testing technology and bioanalysis, reagent production, instrument parts and new materials.

In 2021, medium and large instrument industry companies in Songjiang generated 7.1 billion yuan (US$1 billion) in output, accounting for 15.4 percent of the city's total.

Shanghai Institute of Analytical Technology was established in April 2018 as an accelerator for the industry cluster.

Its shared chemical analysis lab, bioanalysis lab and cell-culture room with more than 60 high-end scientific machines – worth 20 million yuan – have served two-thirds of incubated companies in the institute.
