Songjiang-based Prismlab China is among the first group of businesses selected by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for the "additive manufacturing good application scenario" list.

Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, turns 3D models into objects by building layers. More than 500 3D-printing machines manufactured by Prismlab China are used across the country to create about 150,000 sets of orthodontic tooth models daily.

"Orthodontic tooth models are highly tailored goods as the conditions of people's teeth differ. A tooth model producer should be capable of mass production to control costs, and Prismlab is able to meet their demands," said Hou Feng, general manager of Prismlab China.
