The Songjiang branch of Shanghai Citizen Art Night School is enrolling students. Residents between the ages of 18 and 55 can register.

The Songjiang branch has three teaching sites and offers courses such as oil painting, black-and-white woodcutting, tie dyeing, handmade hairpin flowers and handmade pottery.

Woodcutting is an intangible heritage project in Songjiang, and the new black-and-white woodcutting course has become a highlight of the Songjiang branch.

"The black-and-white woodcutting course is taught online. In addition to Songjiang residents, people from other districts are welcome to take part," said Gu Jinning, a staff member of the Songjiang Cultural Center's training department.

The instructor for the course is Lu Zhuhui, vice president of Songjiang Woodcut Academy, in Guanlu Hall.

The hall is a historical building from the Ming (1366-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
