Tony Award-winning Broadway musical 'The Producers' to debut in November

Tony Award-winning Broadway musical "The Producers" will start its China tour in autumn.

The classic musical will debut on November 1 and run through to November 13 at Shanghai Culture Square. Around 90 performances will be staged over 3 months across ten cities in China, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Xiamen.

Based on the story of a film by the same name, the hilarious musical centers around the lives and careers of Broadway producers.

"The Producers" won a total of 12 awards at the 2001 Tony Awards, considered the highest US theater honor.

The musical will also be included in the Shanghai International Comedy Festival where cast members will interact with audiences with a more light-hearted program.
