'Nirvana In Fire' to air its sequel on local TV

The epic series focuses on the rise and fall of a general's family in ancient China and features political tactics, romance and brotherhood.

The highly anticipated sequel to the costume drama “Nirvana in Fire” will air on Dragon TV on December 18.

Leading actors from the series such as Huang Xiaoming, Tong Liya and Liu Haoran gathered in Shanghai yesterday to promote the drama.

The epic series focuses on the rise and fall of an ancient Chinese general’s family and features political tactics, romance and brotherhood.

The sequel retains the high visual artistry of the first series, with spectacular war battle scenes and exquisite ancient Chinese costumes.

It is also the latest offering from acclaimed producer Hou Hongliang, whose credits include "Battle of Changsha" and "All Quiet in Beijing.”

The first season received a high score of 9.1 out of 10 on the film and TV review website Douban, calculated from the reviews of more than 200,000 viewers.

According to Kong Sheng, one of the co-directors, the new season will attach more importance to the portrayal of people’s destinies and emotions.
