To mark the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up next year, a realistic epic TV drama based on Ah Nai’s novel “The Great River Flows to the East” will begin shooting in February.

Starring Wang Kai and Yang Shuo, the series is produced by Shanghai Media Group and celebrated producer Hou Hongliang, whose credits include “Nirvana in Fire” and "Battle of Changsha.”

The series centers on an ordinary family whose lives have made tremendous progress owing to the country’s big move of reform and opening-up.

It will air on Dragon TV next year, paying tribute to the achievements of the drive since 1978.
