Superstar Bruno Mars is flying into Shanghai as part of his “24K Magic World Tour.”

The American singer and songwriting sensation, who will appear at the Mercedes Benz Arena in the Pudong New Area on April 21, promises to give Chinese fans a show to remember after sweeping up at the 60th Grammy Awards earlier this year.

Mars is very much the man of the moment. He scooped three of the highest awards at the music industry’s prestigious event ─ song, record and album of the year for “24K Magic.”

The 32-year-old American also claimed the best R&B album, song and performance. Mars now has 11 Grammies and has had 27 nominations since he glittered the world stage in 2010.

As a multi-instrumentalist, record producer and choreographer, the multi-talented Mars has sold over 170 million singles and 26 million albums worldwide.

Born into a musical family in Hawaii, Mars, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, was exposed to a variety of music from childhood. With a strong passion for music, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his musical dream after graduating from high school.

“It’s just all love. That’s what music is about. That’s why music was created. To make people feel good, to uplift people,” Mars said in an early interview. “It’s like cavemen beating on drums and stuff to dance around the fire.”

The signature single “Just the Way You Are” from the debut studio album “Doo-Wops & Hooligans” (2010) ranked No. 1 in both the international and US Billboard Hot 100. His second album, “Unorthodox Jukebox” (2012), was also a No. 1 smash hit in the US.

Collaborating with Mark Ronson in 2014, Mars released the successful single “Uptown Funk,” which has been omniscient on the radio ever since its release and still continues to fill our airwaves today. It is only the 10th single in the Billboard Hot 100’s entire history to lead the chart for 14 weeks.

It will be Mars’ first return to the Chinese mainland since his “Moonshine Jungle Tour” in 2014. Concert tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10am.
