The Japanese sports romance film “Mix” premiered in Shanghai last night to wide acclaim. The film is slated for national release on March 9.

Starring Aragaki Yui and Nagayama Eita, the film centers on a 29-year-old woman who used to be a star ping pong player. After leaving the sport behind for a long time, she goes back to her hometown and begins to play again.

Movie fans hailed the premiere, many comparing it to the Indian movie “Dangal,” the story of an amateur wrestler who trains his daughters to become the country’s best fighters.

Many viewers said that they were moved by the characters’ strong will and faith to pursue their dreams.
