Guitar virtuoso promises to pull a few strings during world tour
Acoustic guitarist Luca Stricagnoli is planning to wow Shanghai audiences with his unique and innovative style of playing the guitar.
Born and raised in Italy, the 27-year-old started to playing the guitar as a 10-year-old. Signed by CandyRat Records when he was 22, Stricagnoli soon gained international recognition.
His debut single received over 14 million views on Facebook and 7 million views on YouTube in only two weeks.
The Italian has customized his instrument from a traditional guitar. The modifications include a custom triple neck and a Serracini seven-stringed fanned fret.
His ambidextrous nature allows him to play two guitars and a harmonica simultaneously, draw the violin bow across the guitar strings and use his legs to pluck strings.
Stricagnoli really plays the guitar. The playfulness is vividly expressed through his plucking, strumming and tapping.
He has shared the stage with many virtuosos, including Lulo Reinhardt, founder of the Latin swing style, Grammy-nominated musician Pandit Debashish Bhattacharya and Brazilian guitarist and composer Chrystian Dozza.
Shanghai will be the first stop of Stricagnoli’s “What If” world tour in China, and he will also visit Ji’nan, Tianjin, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Changsha, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanchang, Haikou and Beijing, before flying to the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany and Austria.
