Although it was raining, local music fans thronged to the greenland concert tonight at the Chenshan Botanical Garden.

Despite the annoying weather, big crowds of music lovers participated in the Greenland Classical Music Concert today at the Chenshan Botanical Garden in suburban Shanghai’s Songjiang District.

The annual two-day outdoor concerts, launched in 2012, are well-known for the pleasant environment and interactivity with audiences. Famous orchestras from around the world are invited to perform on the lawn.

Tonight’s performance featured the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne and WDR Radio Choir Cologne. The musicians presented representative works of Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.

Tomorrow evening, the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra will stage a concert entitled “Praise of Love.” Audiences will be treated to songs about love by veteran Chinese conductor Chen Xieyang, soprano Xu Lei and violinist Nancy Zhou.

The outdoor concerts also presented percussion shows and family-friendly programs.
