The light-hearted children’s drama “Peppa Pig Live!” began its China tour on May 30 at Shanghai Lyceum Theater.

Animation superstar Peppa Pig, or Xiaozhu Peiqi in Mandarin, will jump off the screen for the first time to interact with Chinese fans on stage.

Throughout the following six months, the show will be staged in major cities throughout China, including Beijing, Qingdao, Nanjing, Shenyang and Hangzhou.

In mid-July, the show will return to Shanghai for two weekends at ET Theater (433 Yan’an Rd M.) and DaGuan Theater in Shanghai Zendai Himalayas Arts Center (3/F, 1188 Fangdian Rd, Pudong).

Since its debut in 2004, the British animated series has been broadcast in over 180 countries and regions. China Central Television first introduced the series in 2015. The cute little pig and her family and friends now have a huge fan base in China.

According to Han Qiang, COO of Damai.cn, an organizer of the China tour performance of “Peppa Pig Live!,” 500 free tickets will be given to needy children. They will also explore a mechanism to combine children’s theater with charity.
