Chinese-American film festival finds its feet in Hollywood
The 14th Chinese-American Film Festival will be held in the US, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, from October 28 to November 30, announced organizers on June 17 during the ongoing Shanghai International Film Festival.
“When the festival first kicked off years ago, we were wary of showing our limited skills before the experts. You know, it is Hollywood, the entertainment capital and the most developed film industry in the world,” said Jiang Ping, manager of China Film Co Ltd. “Now even many mainstream American actors and studios want a ticket.”
Some 23 Chinese films have received nominations for the Golden Angel Awards, including some from the first half of the year, such as “Youth” by Feng Xiaogang, “Operation Red Sea” by Dante Lam and “The Ex-File: The Return of the Exes.”
Panel discussions will be held among top producers and studio executives from both China and the US in November.
The festival has signed with CBS for live news this year and expects more media coverage.
