The prestigious Russian State Ballet is bringing a new production of the classical ballet “Swan Lake” to Shanghai’s dance lovers.

Renowned ballet dancers Dmitry Kotermi, Luliia Zviagina and Anna Shcherbakova all feature in the classic fairy tale and will offer a new interpretation of the story about Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by a sorcerer.

Based on a Russian folk tale, Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” has been loved by Chinese audiences for generations because of its romantic story, poetic scenes and beautiful melodies.

Since its debut in 1877, the production has gone through several transformations. The latest version differs from the previous ones because of the new ending to the story, which sees the evil black swan’s 32 fouette turns in one move.

There will be four performances of the world famous of the ballet on October 1-2 and October 6-7.

A 70 percent discount is offered to early birds who buy tickets ahead of August 15.
