Homegrown animated film to hit theaters
Homegrown animated film “Kungfood” received the thumbs up from children and movie critics at its recent special screenings. The film will begin nationwide release on August 17.
Set in a cartoon world of food, the lighthearted movie revolves around a group of cute and tasty treats who embark on an adventure to fight against pirates of octopus and salted fish.
Some audience members compared the film to a Chinese counterpart of Hollywood’s classic animation “Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs” for its imagination, fun and impelling visuals.
Director Sun Haipeng created the movie’s main character, Baoqiang, who featured in his previous animated short films and TV series, in 2007.
