Pingpong TV drama enters shooting stage

“Go For Gold,” a highly anticipated pingpong TV drama, has begun filming.

The series by director Zhang Qian chronicles the development and achievements of pingpong in China over the past decades. It also promises inspiring stories about different generations of Chinese pingpong players.

Former famous pingpong players including Xu Shaofa, Guo Yuehua and Liang Geliang also joined the cast.

According to director Zhang, the series will portray the emotions and never-yielding spirit of the athletes.

Mainland actor Zheng Kai depicts a poor student who pursues his pingpong dream, despite the objections of his family. 

Zheng said he spent three months living with professional pingpong players and received pingpong training in preparation for the role.
