Vienna Philharmonic to perform for local music lovers
The prestigious Vienna Philharmonic will host two concerts on the evenings of December 1 and 2 at Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
Famous Austrian conductor Franz Welser-Möst, who has conducted the ensemble’s New Year concert twice, will also conduct the Shanghai performances.
The repertoire includes J. Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, op. 73” and Dvořák’s “Carnival Overture, op. 92.”
Mozart’s “Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 24 in C minor, K. 491” will be performed with the piano accompaniment of celebrated Chinese pianist Lang Lang.
Founded in 1842, the Vienna Philharmonic gives over 40 concerts in Vienna every year. Its famous New Year Concert has also been broadcast in more than 90 countries.
Tickets for the Shanghai shows began selling on Damai.cn yesterday.
