The Tiandi World Music Festival features versatile music genres like rock, metal, electronic, jazz, folk and pop.

Entitled “the Heartbeat of the World,” the Tiandi World Music Festival features an eclectic mix of artists from all over the world promising to serve up a show of diversity.

The annual music feast, which opened yesterday and will run through September 24 in several venues throughout Shanghai, gathers 29 bands and artists from over 20 counties, including renowned musicians like American blues harmonica player and Grammy-winner Sugar Blue and Azerbaijani khananda folk singer and piano player Gochag Askarov. The free outdoor music carnival is open to everyone. 

The event features versatile music genres like rock, metal, electronic, jazz, folk and pop. Tuvan distinctive band Yat-kha will present their mixture of Tuvan traditional singing with modern electronics. 

The festival also collaborates with several Chinese local bands and artists. 

Ensemble Etoile, formed by a group of young Chinese musicians, perform their masterpieces using Chinese traditional instruments such as erhu, pipa and Chinese flute with cello and classic guitar. 

Renowned Chinese artist Ding Dang, responsible for hit songs like “Onions,” “I Love Him” and “Unable to Guess,” will perform her heartbreaking love songs to her fans.
