'Bumblebee' to buzz into cinemas across China on January 4
American film “Bumblebee,” the sixth installment of the live-action “Transformers” film franchise, is slated for release in China on January 4.
Directed by Travis Knight, the film is produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.
This instalment is set around 20 years before the events of the first film, when the broken Bumblebee takes refuge in a small town junkyard. With the help of a teenage girl, Bumblebee finds that he is not the only transformer on Earth.
Bumblebee is a popular superhero character for Transformers fans worldwide. The movie is centered on the growth of Bumblebee after his soul, lonely and confused, is healed by the teenage girl.
Stunning visuals of fight and chase scenes will be presented. The film is expected to boast a different flavor from the former installments as it is the first spin-off of the franchise not directed by Michael Bay.
Since 2007, the “Transformers” film series has made over US$4.1 billion at the global box office.
