Village life on the silver screen
“Marathon in the Spring,” a movie telling the story of China's villages over the past 40 years, was given a special screening at the Shanghai Film Art Center on December 7. The film will hit cinemas across China on December 14.
Supported by the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation, the movie pays tribute to the nation's villages on the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up.
The script is based on a true story from Ninghai in Zhejiang Province and portrays the achievements and tremendous changes in village life over the period.
Director Xia Xiaoyun said a number of villages were visited before shooting began.
