Fantasy comedy 'Airpocalypse' to delight audiences

“Airpocalypse,” an hilarious fantasy comedy by Xiao Yang, is expected to be a box office sensation during the coming Christmas and New Year.
The film will start its national release on December 21.
Xiao Yang, a member of the Beijing-based Chopstick Brothers, who shot the hit online short film “Old Boy,” is the film’s director, scriptwriter and leading actor.
On December 9, Xiao and the film's cast, including actors Chang Yuan, Shen He (widely known as Xiao Shenyang), and actress Du Juan, held a press conference at the Shanghai Meteorological Museum.
The film revolves around a suicide intervention expert who embarks on a journey to find and assemble the Chinese immortals of wind, rain, thunder and lightening in order to sweep smog away.
“People’s moods are usually affected by the weather,” said Xiao. “I hope the film will bring fun to city dwellers at the end of a busy year.”
In 2014, Xiao helmed the comedy film “Old Boy: The Way of the Dragon,” which was also a box office hit.
Xiao Yang is the film’s director, scriptwriter and leading actor.
