Celebrating the New Year with Alice's adventures
The immersive and interactive play “Alice’s Underground Adventures” has put up a themed exhibition as part of the Christmas and New Year celebration at the city’s Hong Kong plaza.
The Olivier award nominated play made its debut at the Vaults in London in 2015. When its Chinese version was staged in Shanghai this summer, the play received wide acclaim from both audiences and critics.
Local audiences then embarked on their own adventures and walked through the Wonderland covering 4,000 square meters.
Like a group of excited schoolchildren, they chose their own route of adventure in the “rabbit hole,” interacted with the famous inhabitants of Wonderland and even became part of the play’s story and events. A diverse form of music, magic and acrobatic elements was incorporated into the actual scenes.
The exhibition on display features the photos and exquisite props of the play.
During the weekends, theater workshops will also be held to engage with the audience who are interested in snaffling the Queen’s tarts and listening to tales from a caterpillar smoking a shisha pipe.
The performers will be invited to talk about many unknown stories behind production. Flash mob and live theater will be presented to add more festive ambiance.
