Chen Ke’s ‘Real Deal’ at Yuz Museum
A solo exhibition by Chinese artist Chen Ke, titled “The Real deal is Talking with Dad,” will be launched tomorrow at Yuz Museum and runs until March 24, 2019.
Featuring youth, family and the social problem of aging, the exhibit aims to express an artist’s deep insights through a series of paintings and installations.
The show also includes daily communication with the artist’s father, who is a traditional arts teacher at a middle school in China.
Born in the late 1970s, Chen is a contemporary young artist who witnessed the rapid development of china. She is influenced by both Western and traditional Chinese culture. Her works have been exhibited in many museums and art institutions worldwide over the past years.

Clayderman is back in Shanghai
Richard Clayderman, a renowned pianist from France, will perform at the Mercedes-Benz arena on January1 and welcome the New Year.
As one of the first group of foreign musicians to perform in china, Clayderman has influenced a number of Chinese music fans with a series of popular music pieces, including “Ballade pour Adeline,” “A comme amour” and” Souvenirs d’enfance.”
This time, Clayderman will revive the old memories of the city and play his romantic compositions for Shanghai fans. Go and enjoy it.

‘Gone with the Wind’ set to blow away Shanghai
Adapted from the novel of the same name by American novelist Margaret Mitchell, the musical version “Gone with the Wind” will hit the stage at SAIC Shanghai Culture Square from December 29 to January 13, 2019.
The show is directed by French director Frantz Morel and composed by renowned French musician Gerard Presgurvic, a winner of Moliere Award in France. Among the actors and actresses are Broadway actress Rachel Gold, actor Eric Briarley, singer Amy Vachal and French actor Cyril Niccolai.
With gorgeous stage effects and electrifying musical scenes, it will lead audiences back into the period of the American Civil War and introduce them a gripping love story between Scarlett O’hara and Rhett Butler.

Sicilian Orchestra to tour in Shanghai
Sicilian Philharmonic Orchestra will perform at Shanghai Oriental art center on January 9 as part of the New Year’s celebration with local music enthusiasts.
Founded in Sicily, the philharmonic orchestra consists of a group of top musicians from Italy. They have toured throughout Europe, giving a number of performances at various music festivals.
For their first Chinese tour, the Sicilian Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a series of classical pieces including “Gazza Ladra Ouverture,” “Norma,” “Italiana in Algeri Ouverture” as well as Oscar-winning movie soundtracks for its Shanghai audience.

Broadway classic coming next month
The classic Broadway musical “A Chorus Line” will be staged at SAIC Shanghai culture Square from January 17 to January 27, 2019.
Premiered in America in 1975, the musical became an instant sensation among audiences and drama critics and won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1976. It also received 12 Tony Awards nominations the same year.
The musical tells the story of a group of drama actors and actresses who dream of becoming Broadway superstars. It shows their performances in front of the stage and their life behind the scenes.

Time is love, and it is now...
The Jing An Kerry Center Christmas Market, which runs through December 26, brings together some of Shanghai’s top food and beverage vendors and performers, just the occasion to eat, drink and spread the festive cheer.
The centrally located holiday market, themed around “Time is Love, the time is now,” has 24 stalls spread across the Jing An Kerry center’s beautifully landscaped South Piazza and inside the North building.
There are not only a wide selection of seasonal eats and drinks but some exquisite festival-related performances as well. a stage set among the stalls will play live music every day. Musicians are from V Jazz Band, Tbird Luv and Oleg’s Band.
