The second season of “Life Matters,” a documentary series about medical staff and patients, is set to air on Dragon TV at 9:30pm on January 1.

The 10-episode series will be updated weekly on Tuesdays. It will also be screened simultaneously online on iQIYI, v.qq.com and Knews.

The first season of the series in 2016 turned out to be a hit for its touching real-life stories and in-depth portrayal of humanity and relationships. It rated 9.6 out of 10 on China’s film and TV review website Douban.

The second season will continue to tell stories about patients and medical staff’s efforts to fight various kinds of diseases.

The series was shot in around 10 hospitals in Shanghai and in neighboring Jiangsu Province. It focussed its lens on over 200 patients, many of them suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, cancer and strange lung disease.

According to Song Jiongming, an official from the Shanghai Media Group, the sequel includes a few more contemporary social issues and discussions. It is a sincere and real depiction of ordinary people’s lives and emotions. It will also improve people’s understandings of medical staff.

The series is also expected to develop spin-offs in film and short online video.
