'Transformers' makers back with 'Bumblebee'
The American live-action “Transformers” film series has reaped over US$4.1 billion at the global box office since 2007.
Starting today, “Bumblebee,” the sixth installment of the film franchise, will be released in China. The film with stunning visuals and fight scenes will also be presented in IMAX 3D version at over 600 IMAX theaters across the country.
On the run since 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town.
Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken.
Set about 20 years before the events of the first film, the film centers on popular superhero character Bumblebee, who is healed by Charlie.
The film’s director is Travis Knight, who has added new heartwarming elements and a nostalgic flavor of the 1980s.
It is also the first spin-off of the franchise not directed by Michael Bay.
A special screening was organized in Shanghai last week, which attracted a number of “Transformers” fans in the city and from the neighboring provinces.
Many viewers were impressed by the distinctive charm of Bumblebee. Though not the strongest or toughest bot, he is definitely brave while fighting and cute in life.
