Poet musician to bring his tunes to Shanghai
Chinese singer, songwriter and producer Li Jian will kick off his live concert, “Keep On, Li Jian,” in Shanghai soon.
Li, born in 1974, is dubbed the “poet musician” by his fans. He majored in electrical engineering at Tsinghua University and later found a career in music.
In 2001, Li and his classmate, Lu Genxu, set up a duo called Shui Mu Nian Hua (Age of Water & Wood). The song “Life With You” was one of the most popular songs in 2001, and the duo won the Best New Artist of the ninth Beijing Radio Music Awards.
After the duo broke up in 2002, Li began his solo career. To date, he has released eight albums, including “Thinking of You” in 2007, “Music Mavericks” in 2009 and his self-titled album in 2015.
In 2010, Chinese diva Faye Wong performed “Chuan Qi” (Legend) from Li’s first album at the Spring Festival Gala, the world’s most-watched annual TV show.
In 2013, singing with famous actress Sun Li, Li performed his song “Feng Chui Mai Lang” at the Spring Festival Gala.
Those two songs have become well-known throughout China.
He then took part in several famous variety shows, such as “I Am a Singer: Season 3” and “Sing! China.”
Li held a successful show in Shanghai two years ago and is looking forward to giving his Shanghai fans another show to remember.
