Action-packed crime film “Bodies at Rest” is slated for national release on August 16. The film’s cast including award-winning Hong Kong actor Nick Cheung and mainland actress Yang Zi held a special meeting in Shanghai on Wednesday (July 31).

Directed by Hollywood filmmaker Renny Harlin whose credits include “Die Hard 2” and “The Long Kiss Goodnight,” the film is about forensics experts’ efforts to protect the exhibits from masked intruders.

Cheung who has taken up the acting career for about 30 years said that the film has many breathtaking shots of fighting and chasing. Some of its scenes are set in a morgue. 

It is also the first time for him to depict a forensics expert on the screen. He spent a lot of time studying the basic knowledge and terms of the profession. 

Yang Zi, who is hailed for her acting in the urban romance series “Go Go Squid!” said that she did many action in the movie, which was a big challenge for her.

The film also stars Taiwan actor Richie Jen as a gangster leader. It was the opening movie of the 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival earlier this year.
