Shanghai Center of Chinese Operas and Shanghai Science and Art Society will host a series of cultural events from today to Sunday.

Award-wining performing artists of traditional theaters including Shang Changrong, Cai Zhengren and Wu Shuang will visit the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park to give lectures to entrepreneurs and white-collar workers on the unique charm of traditional Chinese operas.

They will also visit the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China and the C919 plane.

Today artists from all over the Yangtze River Delta region will stage a grand performance featuring the classic excerpts of Peking Opera “Grand Occasion in the Golden Years of Zhenguan” and Kunqu Opera “The Handan Dream.”

During the five-day event, they will also visit Zhangjiang’s workshop and research centers, and attend seminars with scientists to learn more about latest scientific and technological achievements and trends.

They will experience 3D printing technology, artificial intelligence and self-driving cars.

Gu Haohao, president of Shanghai Center of Chinese Operas, said that art takes its root in life. The event is in its third year at the center.

“It offers a chance for the artists to get close to ordinary people’s work and lives,” Gu said. “The realistic stories will inspire the creation of high-quality theater productions in the future.”
