Tank Shanghai to host 'raw' acrobatic show
The acrobatic spectacle “A Simple Space,” presented by the Australian troupe Gravity & Other Myths, will be staged at Tank Shanghai from Thursday to October 7.
Raw, frantic and delicate, the show is presented by seven acrobats who push their physical limits without reserve.
The show will take place on a small circular stage, with an intimate presentation that allows audiences to feel the heat and hear the breathing of the performers.
With no special makeup, lighting or contrived effects, the show is meant to be raw and visceral, with performers embracing the realities of failure and weakness.
"A Simple Space" is directed by Triton Tunis-Mitchell, an acrobat-turned-physiotherapist.
The widely acclaimed show has been performed more than 300 times across 27 countries and regions.
Established in 2009, Gravity & Other Myths creates and directs original works with an emphasis on honest approaches to performance.
Tank Shanghai is a multifunctional cultural hub built out of decommissioned facilities at the former Longhua Airport.
