Doc adds color to nation's early history
The documentary “New China in Color” will air on Dragon TV and Documentary Channel on Tuesday.
A tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, the documentary includes rare color footage from the early days of the country's founding in 1949.
The 50-minute production also tells many unknown stories behind these historical sequences, such as how cameramen from both China and the former Soviet Union cooperated to capture cherished moments of the nation's founding ceremony.
From 1949 to 1950, these cameramen also visited 15 cities in China and shot more than 30 hours of color footage of local cultural heritage and social change.
According to director Xie Shenzhao from Shanghai Media Group's documentary center, many people have witnessed tremendous development since the new era opened 70 years ago. Their memories, personal stories and emotions are closely related to the country's history.
