Spring Festival traditions: Live on Facebook and Twitter
Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, is by far China’s most important festival, and it’s a time when many traditions, even to this day, are performed, year after year.
Join Shanghai Daily’s Iverson Zhang and Andy Boreham as they visit a Shanghai nana to be taken through some of the Spring Festival’s most famous rituals, including sweeping away last year’s bad luck, painting and hanging chunlian, and making and eating dumplings. They will even "set off" some fake, electronic fireworks as is one of Shanghai's new customs since fireworks were banned in 2016.
It’s going to be a fun and educational lesson on Shanghai’s New Year traditions, so don’t miss it!
Tune in!
The broadcast will begin on SHINE’s Facebook page and Twitter account (@ShanghaiDaily) from 3pm on February 14, Beijing time (2am EST). See you there!
