Barney Rivera, from Mexico and California, has been living in Shanghai for about four-and-a-half years. He started doing comedy eight years ago and is a co-founder of the Shanghai Comedy Club.

The 36-year-old gets some of his inspiration sometimes simply from his daily routine of riding his scooter around the chaotic but colorful streets of Shanghai — a city with a population about the same as the entire continent of Australia.

Rivera hopes to inspire and promote local talent, both in Mandarin and English. Wherever you look, you can always find a laugh.
