The 4th Shanghai Fashion Weekend was launched at Shanghai Exhibition Center on October 12.

The event, combining fashion with technology, will run till October 14. Sophia, the world’s first robot to gain citizenship, is the fashion gala’s image ambassador.

Part of Shanghai Fashion Week, the event tries to encourage urban fashion lovers to embrace technology while "staying human."

The launch ceremony of the event attracted French architect Thomas Coldefy, British fashion designer Sadie Clayton and Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming.

The three-day event will host fashion shows, interactive art exhibitions, music performances and a creative bazaar for visitors.

An installation art piece called “Unbreakable Love” is also on display to raise public awareness of "empty-nest" elderly. Through futuristic architectural language, the artwork discovers the journey of one’s life from birth to childhood and to adulthood, and how the three life stages are connected with parents.

Famous British photographer Adrian Bradshaw will also present a photo exhibition that pays tribute to the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up.

The photos record big fashion events in China and the rapid development of China’s fashion industry.
