Shanghai Media Group has launched a short video competition to find the public’s most effective way of sorting out its garbage.

Local citizens and foreign expats have been invited to submit a short video to promote garbage sorting and the most eye-catching films will be played on Shanghai Media Group’s local TV channels and platforms.

Also, those who are adept at waste classification will be invited to a talent competition and share their rich experience in waste disposal and discuss their creative inventions.

TV celebrities and volunteers will visit local schools and office buildings to promote the importance of garbage sorting soon after the competition.

Starting July 1, the city's first domestic garbage regulation will take effect.
