Something for everyone at Chongming Tourism Festival
Looking for a simple holiday with the family for the upcoming National Day? Chongming Island offers not only an abundance of natural beauty, but for the Chongming Tourism Festival the eco-island will feature amazing musical events, lantern shows, traditional cultural displays and a hairy crab feast, among other activities.
This year, the annual festival runs through November 20 under the theme of “Flower Island, Ecological Tour.”
There are four sections of the festival, which feature ecology and sports on the island, local food, folk cultural experiences and a music festival.
Music Festival
During the National Day holiday, there will be many music activities and performances held at the island's Xincheng Park. There will even be karaoke equipment for those who want to perform themselves.
After vibrant music and exhausting dancing, you can lay down on the grass to appreciate countless bright stars in the sky, unobstructed by urban light pollution.
There are also barbecue sites, local food stalls and bonfire parties.
Various activities
In mid-October, there will be an art exhibition featuring videos, sculptures, multi-media installations and paintings to show the beauty of Chongming. Art from more than 30 international artists will be on display.
Moreover, to commemorates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, a citizen's singing competition and photography contest will be held.
