Pricy hot baths

The Annui Province city of Huangshan, known for Yellow Mountain, boasts the the most expensive hot springs in the country, followed by Hangzhou and Zhuhai, according to a survey by online travel operator Tongcheng, or ly.com.

A hot spring bath in Huangshan costs an average 520 yuan (US$80) per person, compared with the overall average of 210 yuan.

Hot springs are one of the four major attractions of Yellow Mountain, which is also known for its oddly shaped pine trees, strange rock formations and clouds.

A hot spring bath in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, costs 444 yuan and for Zhuhai in Guangdong Province, it is 417 yuan.

More women than men like hot springs, and 62 percent of bathers are aged between 28 and 47, the survey found.

Guangdong, Jiangsu and Shanghai are the biggest source markets of hot spring tours.
