Acupuncture is the practice of inserting needles into different points in the body to stimulate the flow of qi (life energy) and to restore the balance between yin (cool energy) and yang (warm energy), thus improving immunity, treating and preventing diseases.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that pain and disease result from the imbalance of yin and yang and insufficient or improper flow of qi in the body, while acupuncture can improve such conditions.
