39 receive life-long driving ban so far this year

A total of 39 drivers were banned from life, mainly for causing accidents while under the influence of alcohol or for causing accidents and then fleeing the scene.

Drunk drivers who caused accidents were among those banned for life.

A total of 39 people were banned from driving for life in the first half of this year, Shanghai traffic police said on Monday.

Among them were 28 who fled after causing traffic accidents, and 11 who caused traffic accidents while driving under the influence of alcohol.

All were criminally convicted.

Shanghai traffic police have published the names of those drivers in the public domain.
