Visitors are sweating when queuing outside the Shanghai History Museum on Tuesday afternoon despite of the big fans.

Hot days are back as the second typhoon within days dissipates — Haitang has moved north — and a sub-tropical high dominates once again.

Over the next four to five days, the weather will be cloudy to sunny, with chances of scattered afternoon thunderstorms.

Maximums will hover around 35 degrees Celsius and may touch 37 degrees tomorrow and Friday, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

After just a two-day break from the recent hot spell, the mercury hit 35.6 degrees Celsius on Monday, marking this year’s 23rd “high temperature day” — 35 degrees or above.

It fell slightly yesterday, Xujiahui observatory station recording a high of 34.3 degrees by 2pm.

So far, typhoons have not had much impact on Shanghai, except for strong winds.
