A gas leak caused an explosion in a first floor household of a residential building at Zhidan Road, Putuo District, at 1am Saturday, police said.

A gas leak caused an explosion in a first floor household of a residential building at Zhidan Road, Putuo District, at 1am Saturday, police said.
An unidentified number of people were injured and sent to hospital for treatment. Their injuries were not life threatening.
A total of 36 households in the building were evacuated and accommodated elsewhere.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
