Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met with Soren Skou, chief executive officer of A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, on Monday.

Ying expressed his appreciation of Maersk Group’s contribution to Shanghai’s Free Trade Zone. He said Shanghai will build a shipping center with global resources by 2020 in line with China’s development strategies.

Ying said the shipping center will promote economic globalization, trade and investment liberalization, and facilitation. It will provide global shipping services, better financial services and talent development programs.

Shanghai will create a more equal, law-abiding, international, and convenient business environment for international enterprises. It welcomes the support of domestic and international companies to build the center, Ying added.

Skou said Shanghai's speedy development has been impressive. Maersk Group will support construction of the shipping center and further its collaboration with its Chinese partners.

A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, the world’s largest container ship company, is one of the Fortune Global 500 companies in 2017.
