Warnings issued to firms overloading trucks

Traffic law enforcement officers are cracking down on overloaded vehicles.

Traffic law enforcement officers told 22 transportation companies suspected of overloading trucks to tighten management and introduce rectification measures.

The warnings were issued on Wednesday.

The city has installed six overloading inspection stations that can check if a passing vehicle is overloaded — without requiring a vehicle even having to stop.

The system covers 37 lanes in six areas including Xupu Bridge, Yangpu Bridge and Outer Ring Tunnel.

The inspection system checked 823,014 passing vehicles from August 7 to 31, and caught 70,434 that were  overloaded.
