Shanghai was placed on the blue alert, the lowest in a four-level color system, for gales on Thursday under the peripheral influence of Typhoon Talim.

The strong winds may last overnight through Friday. But the wind is set to blow stronger in eastern Chongming Island and in the eastern part of the Pudong New Area, and coastal areas of Jinshan and Fengxian districts.

According to Shanghai Metrological Bureau, Talim will move northeast around noon on Friday, affecting Japan, and then gradually weaken.

Friday will be cloudy to overcast, with intermittent showers. The temperature will be drop, to hover around 24 to 27 degrees Celsius. The rain will cease on Saturday. The mercury will start to climb from Sunday.

Next Monday is forecast sunny, and temperature will again reach 30 degrees, forecasters said.
