Over 30 startup companies based in downtown Changning are displaying their innovative products during the city's mass entrepreneurship and innovation week.

Mainly on show are cutting-edge virtual reality technologies, augmented reality, deep learning and scientific arts. The event is being held at the Creater Space innovative park on 1107 Yuyuan Road through September 21.

Changning has gathered over 2,000 startup companies with a total production value of 46 billion yuan (US$7.02 billion), ranking first among all downtown districts, Gu Honghui from the district's government told the opening ceremony of Changning entrepreneurship and innovation week.

Since China's State Council, or the cabinet, issued a development plan on artificial intelligence in July, many startup companies have focused on the industry and achieved some breakthroughs, according to the organizer.

A technology company named Newthings, for instance, exhibited an intelligent housekeeping system which allows people to remotely control their home appliances using a mobile phone, from air conditioning, electronics, and lamps, all the way to drink machines. With AI technology, a central system can also control and manage the equipment in an office building automatically.

Using similar technology another company, Qigou, developed an intelligent hotel control system that allows customers to check-in and out as well as control appliances in their rooms using their phones.
