Fox Hunt nets another suspect
An embezzlement suspect from a case 16 years ago who acquired US citizenship has turned herself in to Shanghai police, police said on Tuesday.
The suspect, a 59-year-old woman surnamed Min, returned to the city from the United States on Tuesday, becoming the 64th suspect netted in this year’s “Fox Hunt” campaign by Shanghai police. Fox Hunt targets fugitives of economic crimes.
Min allegedly embezzled over 300,000 yuan (US$46,000) while working as a sales agent for a cable company in Shanghai.
The company reported her to Songjiang police in February 2002, but Min had already fled to the US in November 2001, police said.
They added that they had never given up on the case and filed a “red notice” against her through Interpol, seeking her location and looking to have her arrested.
The police later managed to determine her American address and contact information and persuaded her to turn herself in.
