Shanghai Party Secretary Han Zheng met Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President, Jin Liqun, on Wednesday and congratulated him on the bank's success.

Han said Shanghai is striving to improve its infrastructure and to further open its market in line with the CPC Central Committee guidance.

Shanghai will contribute more to the Yangtze River Economic Zone as well as promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, Han added, and he expressed his hope for further cooperation with the bank.

Jin said AIIB is dedicated to connecting Asian infrastructures and promoting regional economies and recognized Shanghai's leading role in the Yangtze River Economic Zone.

He hopes to learn from Shanghai’s development experience and strengthen cooperation with its talent and companies to build more eco-friendly, high-quality infrastructure projects in Belt and Road countries.

Shanghai Executive Vice Mayor Zhou Bo and the CPC Shanghai Committee secretary general, Zhuge Yujie, also attended the meeting.
