Lucky lottery draw will give away 30 SUVs

The Shanghai Welfare Lottery Center will host a lucky draw to give away 30 new-energy hybrid SUVs.

Between September 27 and November 2, welfare lottery ticket buyers in the city whose purchase reaches 14 yuan (US$2.08) for a single ticket are eligible for the lucky draw by scanning the two-dimensional code on the ticket.

Winners will be announced on the official website of Shanghai Welfare Lottery Center as well as their WeChat account.

The city’s 5 million yuan welfare lottery jackpot has been won by 613 people over the past 20 years.

The welfare lottery funds are mainly used to help and support the elderly, the disabled, orphans and other needy people.

Shanghai's welfare lottery sales reached 47.1 billion yuan over the past 30 years.

Between 2009 — when China’s lottery management regulations were implemented — and last year, it is estimated that 4.03 billion yuan has been used for various livelihood programs across the city.

The latest big winner is a senior Shanghai man who won nearly 100 million yuan in mid-September.
