Deloitte pledges support for Shanghai initiatives

Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met David Cruickshank, chairman of multinational professional services company Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, on Tuesday.

Ying thanked Deloitte and many other foreign enterprises for their contribution to Shanghai’s economy.

He said Shanghai is striving to accelerate the construction of its technology and innovation center, national comprehensive science center, and global Zhangjiang Science City.

It is taking a leading role in promoting the Belt and Road initiative through its Free Trade Zone, Ying added, and striving to become a city of innovation, culture and ecology by 2040.

Ying said Shanghai will create a better market environment for foreign companies and talents and hoped businesses like Deloitte would help to achieve its goal of becoming an orderly and safe metropolis with clean environment.

Cruickshank said Deloitte set up its agency in Shanghai in 1917 , and it will apply its expertise and global resources to support Shanghai’s reforms, construction of the technology and innovation center, and the Belt and Road initiative.

Deloitte is a multinational financial services provider, and a member of the Shanghai International Financial Advisory Council.
